At the MWC Shanghai, OPPO has officially unveiled its new under-screen camera technology which has become yet another way for the company to provide true notchless fullscreen experience. Previously, the company delivered such experience through the motorized slider design on its Find X or via pop-up camera as per those on Reno series.
This is not the first time OPPO has spoken about the technology though since the company has released a short video that showed the camera in action. However, this time around OPPO has provided more details regarding it.
For starters, it involved redesigning the pixel structure on the screen area where the camera is located. The screen itself is apparently made of highly transparent material that allows more lights to go through this screen. Alongside a custom camera module, OPPO has also implemented a custom algorithm set for its under-screen camera technology.
A number of features including haze removal, HDR, and white balance were implemented through the algorithm. OPPO claimed that its new tech is able to rival selfie camera on existing smartphones out there but of course.
