Valerion, the premium sub-brand of AWOL Vision and a name synonymous with cutting-edge home cinema projection, has officially returned to IFA 2025 with the final production version of its record-breaking flagship, the VisionMaster Max. What began life as the most funded projector in Kickstarter history, raising more than $10 million, has now evolved into a market-ready powerhouse boasting a suite of industry-firsts, from breakthrough black-level performance to revolutionary rainbow-effect elimination and immersive wireless surround sound.

VisionMaster Max IFA Hero

Launching commercially in October 2025 with a price tag of $4,999, the VisionMaster Max sets a new benchmark for lifestyle projectors. Visitors to IFA can experience the projector live at Booth #H22-113, where Valerion is also showcasing other standouts from its growing lineup.

Raising the Bar: Black Levels Reimagined

At the heart of the VisionMaster Max lies its headline upgrade: Enhanced Black Level (EBL) contrast performance, which has jumped from 15,000:1 in its prototype phase to a staggering 50,000:1. That’s paired with an improved native contrast ratio of 5,000:1 (up from 4,000:1).

This leap forward is powered by Valerion’s proprietary NoirScene Dark Field Engine System, which integrates:

  • A precision IRIS aperture that regulates light intake for different brightness scenarios.

  • Stray light shielding for greater optical control.

  • An EBL algorithm tuned for richer shadow detail and tonal accuracy.

Unlike a dynamic iris that constantly shifts, Valerion’s fixed precision IRIS ensures stable luminance and consistent calibration. Its stainless-steel blades, finished with heat-resistant black paint, further elevate contrast by suppressing residual light leakage. The result is breathtaking clarity in dark scenes, where every subtle gradation of shadow is rendered with lifelike depth and cinematic intensity.

Goodbye Rainbow Effect: World’s First Anti-RBE Technology

For DLP projector users, the dreaded rainbow effect — those distracting flashes of red, green, and blue during fast motion — has long been a compromise. The VisionMaster Max debuts a world-first Anti-RBE (rainbow effect elimination) system, capable of suppressing 99.99% of colour breakup.

By blending colour sequences at unprecedented speeds, the projector produces a seamless image that’s indistinguishable from natural vision. This breakthrough doesn’t just improve movies; it makes gaming, sports, and everyday viewing significantly more immersive.

Brightness, Lenses, and Flexibility

With brightness now at 3,500 ISO lumens (up from 3,000), the VisionMaster Max has no trouble delivering vibrant, punchy visuals in both controlled dark rooms and brighter living spaces.

But it’s the optical flexibility that sets this model apart. The VisionMaster Max is the world’s first lifestyle projector with interchangeable lenses, making it adaptable for both compact setups and expansive home theatres:

  • Native throw ratio 0.9–1.5:1 for short-throw placement.

  • Auxiliary lens option 1.5–2.0:1 for long-distance, wide-format projection (including cinematic 2.35:1 aspect ratio).

  • Patented bayonet mount supports not only Valerion’s glass but also lenses from select third-party brands.

Combined with both physical and digital optical zoom, the projector can transform any environment into a personalised cinema.

Connectivity and Smart Performance

Valerion hasn’t overlooked the modern streaming era. The VisionMaster Max comes with:

VisionMaster Max Ports

  • Gigabit Ethernet + WiFi 6E for ultra-fast, low-latency 4K streaming.

  • Built-in Google TV with support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and IMAX Enhanced.

  • AI scene optimisation for real-time picture tuning.

  • A MediaTek MT9618 chipset, paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB ROM, ensures smooth multitasking, fast boot times, and snappy navigation.

It also integrates seamlessly with Google HomeKit, Apple HomeKit, Alexa, Control4, and Crestron, placing it firmly within the modern smart home ecosystem.

Sound That Matches the Picture

Alongside the projector, Valerion is debuting its ThunderBeat 5.1.2 Wireless Surround Sound System at IFA 2025. Built specifically for Valerion’s projectors, this Dolby Atmos-enabled system delivers cinema-grade audio without the complexity of wired installation.

  • True 5.1.2 channel layout with ultra-low latency.

  • Wireless design for flexible placement.

  • 360-degree sound dome that wraps viewers in immersive, object-based audio.

The ThunderBeat system is available as a full 5.1.2 package for $1,298, or as a 4.1.2 version (without the centre channel) for $999.

CEO’s Vision

Andy Zhao, Founder and CEO of Valerion, summed up the philosophy behind the product:

“A Valerion experience is not simply viewed. It’s inhabited. With VisionMaster Max, we’ve created more than a projector; we’ve crafted an emotional instrument. From the industry’s best black-level performance to Dolby Atmos sound via ThunderBeat, everything is engineered to immerse you in the story.”
