Humax has officially unveiled the Humax Aura EZ 4K TV Recorder with Freely, a feature-packed set-top box designed to simplify live TV recording while bringing streaming and broadcast content together in one place. The device is available to pre-order now from authorised UK retailers, with a suggested retail price of £249, ahead of its February 2026 release.

Simple Setup, Instant Access

The Aura EZ is built with ease of use at its core. Setup is refreshingly straightforward: plug it in, connect to Wi-Fi, and you’re ready to access thousands of hours of live and on-demand television within minutes.
For viewers who want full recording functionality, the Aura EZ must be connected to a TV aerial.

The recording feature relies on an aerial signal, and recording is not compatible with the Freely streaming platform.
When connected via aerial, the Aura EZ enables users to record up to four channels simultaneously while watching a fifth channel live, making it ideal for busy households where schedule clashes are inevitable.

Scheduling recordings is equally seamless. A quick press of the Menu button brings up a seven-day electronic programme guide (EPG), allowing users to select and schedule upcoming shows in just a few clicks.
Massive 2TB Storage
Storage won’t be a concern for most users. The Aura EZ comes equipped with a generous 2TB hard drive, capable of storing up to 1,000 hours of content. Whether it’s entire box sets, live sports, films, or daily soaps, there’s ample room for extensive recording without constantly managing space.
4K HDR and Dolby Digital Plus
Beyond functionality, the Aura EZ also focuses on delivering a premium viewing experience. The recorder supports 4K HDR picture quality, paired with Dolby Digital Plus audio, ensuring sharp visuals and immersive sound on compatible TVs.
For viewers upgrading older sets with smart capabilities, the Aura EZ effectively modernises existing TVs with high-resolution playback and enhanced audio performance.
Remote Recording with the Aura EZ App
Humax is also preparing to launch the Aura EZ companion app, which is currently in testing and will be available for free download in the future.
Once released, the app will allow users to browse the TV guide, schedule recordings, and manage content remotely from their smartphone or tablet. This means you can queue up a show while commuting or away from home, ensuring your favourite programmes are ready to watch when you return.
Freely Integration: Live and On-Demand, No Subscription
A standout feature of the Aura EZ is its integration with the Freely streaming platform, which brings together live and on-demand streaming without subscription fees.
By connecting to Wi-Fi, users gain access to:
-
60+ live channels
-
75,000+ hours of on-demand content
-
Services including BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, Channel 5, U, WATCH FREE UK, PBS America, and more
-
Three exclusive Channel 4 streams: 4Homes, 4Life and 4Reality
Notably, Freely does not require a satellite dish or aerial to access streaming content. However, it’s important to note that recording functionality does not apply to Freely channels — recordings are only supported via aerial-based broadcast TV.
The user interface includes a Freely Mini-Guide, allowing smooth switching between live and on-demand content, plus the ability to pause and restart live TV. A “My List” feature makes it easy to bookmark favourite shows, while the seven-day forward and backward TV guide helps viewers catch up or plan ahead.
For quick access, the included remote control features a dedicated Freely button, providing one-touch entry into the platform.
