Oppo hosted a Design in Tech<\/em> Workshop at the Victoria & Albert Museum, during London Design Festival. Design professionals including Patrik Schumacher, Principal of Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA), Professor Rama Gheerawo, Director of The Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design at Royal College of Art, and young creators shared their experiences and discussed the fusion of technology and design. OPPO also opened the Renovators 2022 exhibition, featuring innovative product designs and winning entries from the OPPO Renovators Emerging Artists Project – a global competition to encourage young people to explore innovations through art and technology.<\/p>\n

At the workshop, Xi Zeng, OPPO Design spokesperson, delivered a speech on the theme of The Pursuit of Innovation and Elegance in Design<\/em>, explaining OPPO’s product design aesthetics.<\/p>\n

Patrik Schumacher, Principal of Zaha Hadid Architects, provided an insight into ZHA’s design philosophy and his understanding of the relationship between people, technology and design. He said that technology is fundamental to human freedom and human prosperity on this planet. Professor Rama Gheerawo, an advocate of inclusive design, talked about the importance of inclusive design: \u201cA core component of accessibility is the human reaction, such as the joy you feel when holding a phone with a comfortable, smooth tactile touch. That is a part of accessibility and a part of Inclusive Design.\u201d<\/p>\n

Exploring the topic of design and technology, the workshop invited design professionals, academics and young creators to share their experiences, exchange ideas and learn from each other, as well as think about the future of technology and design. OPPO believes that technology and product design should always combine design aesthetics while meeting the core needs of users. At the workshop, OPPO committed itself to pioneering innovative and elegant design. OPPO is dedicated to \u201covercoming every technical obstacle to strive for simplicity and elegance in design\u201d, said Xi Zeng, adding that \u201cproduct design embodies our emotions and ideals.\u201d<\/p>\n

In recent years, OPPO has explored innovative smartphone form factors. After years of refinement and breakthroughs, the OPPO Find N takes the user experience of a foldable smartphone to a whole new level. Neil Monger, OPPO Product Marketing Manager, talked about the Find N\u2019s golden ratio and waterdrop hinge design stories. To ensure that the screen of the OPPO X 2021 rollable phone automatically retracts and extends smoothly, engineers and designers implemented groundbreaking technical innovations into the rollable display for a traceless design. Not only does this make for a stunning appearance, but it also proposes new possibilities for the future of smart devices.<\/p>\n

Dedicated to providing elegant designs and slick experiences for users, OPPO recently released ColorOS 13 in August. Featuring an Aquamorphic Design which draws inspiration from nature, it provides a stunning visual experience and user-friendly UI. The curved design of the OPPO Find X5 Pro also reflects volcanic structures and is made of microcrystalline ceramic material.<\/p>\n

Building a Global Community for Young Artists to Exchange Ideas<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2019, OPPO launched the Renovators Emerging Artists Project, aiming to empower young creators worldwide and encourage them to innovate through art and tech. During the London Design Festival, OPPO also held the Renovators 2022 Exhibition at Cromwell Place, presenting designs from the Renovators global competition, created by young artists from more than 30 countries. The designs showcased thinking around topics such as smart living, low-carbon and environment protection, technology and human society development. OPPO hopes that young creators around the world will gain inspirational strength to overcome challenges and maintain their passion for creation.<\/p>\n
