Huawei has announced more than £10M in marketing investment for its MateBook laptop range in the UK. The investment comes as Huawei continues its rapid growth in sales for its ecosystem of devices, with its laptop business, in particular, achieving more than 120% year-on-year growth globally.
Anson Zhang, Managing Director of Huawei’s UK Consumer Business Group, said: “Huawei is far more than a smartphone brand, and we’re proud of our extensive R&D investment to expand our ecosystem of products. Our range of MateBook laptops are designed to shake up and disrupt a tired category that is lacking any true innovation. They are elegantly designed to offer a stunning fullscreen display and powerhouse performance in a light and slim-line package. They also boast enhanced intelligence which allows them to connect with other Huawei devices with a simple tap, to make even the most complex jobs feel effortless.”
“Making this investment in the UK for our laptop division follows the strong growth of our consumer business here, and demonstrates our confidence as a brand to succeed and, more importantly, lead in different product categories.”
Huawei first announced its plans to enter the PC market in 2017 and has since continued to build its credentials in this category – rising to become the No.2 laptop brand in China already against long-established competitors. The MateBook range forms part of Huawei’s 1+8+N ecosystem strategy, Seamless AI Life, which promises to deliver a fully integrated digital experience for millions of consumers around the world, with product categories including PC, tablets, headphones, earbuds, smartwatches, fitness bands, speakers and home innovation.
The MateBook campaign launches on 12th August across multiple platforms, including digital channels, TV adverts on all national networks, and on catch-up TV. The campaign is strongly supported by joint marketing initiatives with prominent retail partners.
At launch, the campaign will focus on the flagship MateBook X Pro 2020, in particular a striking new Emerald Green edition, but will also see Huawei showcase its range premium laptops throughout the campaign that bring the MateBook series to life.
Last week Huawei also announced the launch of three new state the-of-the-art Huawei Experience Stores and Service Centres following a £10M investment into its retail arm, further demonstrating Huawei’s ongoing commitment and confidence in its future in the UK.
