Update 8th September 2020

Microsoft has just released the official trailer for Xbox One Series S with the launch date of 10th November 2020.

After the reports by Windows Central and Brad Sams that seemed to confirm the prices of the Xbox Series X and the Series S, as well as the release date and price for both, more on that in a second, Xbox has moved very quickly to announce that the Series S is indeed real, and will be priced at $299/£249.

Here’s that announcement tweet, with more information set to come soon.

With the Xbox Series X and S will both rumoured to be launching on 10th November 2020. They will also reportedly be available on finance plans via Xbox All Access: Series X at $35 per month and Series S at $25 per month. The report also seems to confirm that Series X will cost $499.

As for the specs on the Series X, the report suggests it will be roughly twice as powerful as the One X, but it will also be much smaller than it or the Series X. It’s believed that the S won’t be capable of 4K, though it may be better to wait for confirmation on that front. On top of that, it looks like there will be no disc drive for the S, but again that’s something worth waiting for Xbox to confirm.

So, finally, although it’s not been officially confirmed, we have a release date and price for the new line of Xbox consoles.
