MediaTek has expanded its Wi-Fi 7 portfolio by unveiling the Filogic 860 and Filogic 360 solutions. These new additions mark a second-generation leap, aiming to bolster MediaTek’s array of cutting-edge products that harness the latest connectivity advancements. The objective is to deliver peak performance and unwavering reliability across diverse applications.

The Filogic 860 integrates a Wi-Fi 7 dual-band access point with an advanced network processor, catering ideally to enterprise access points, service provider Ethernet gateways, mesh nodes, retail setups, and IoT router applications. Meanwhile, the Filogic 360 stands as a standalone client solution, merging Wi-Fi 7 2×2 capabilities and dual Bluetooth 5.4 radios into a single chip. Its purpose is to provide next-gen Wi-Fi 7 connectivity to edge devices, streaming tools, and various consumer electronics.

Alan Hsu, MediaTek’s Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the Intelligent Connectivity Business, emphasized, “MediaTek distinguishes itself with the most comprehensive connectivity portfolio in the market. Our two new advanced Wi-Fi 7 solutions are designed for mainstream applications, ensuring reliability in busy network environments, ultra-fast speeds, reduced latency, and extended range.”

Targeting enterprise and retail sectors, the Filogic 860 offers a complete platform for dual-band Wi-Fi 7 access points, routers, and mesh nodes. It boasts a triple-core Arm Cortex-A73 CPU supporting robust hardware acceleration for advanced security features, catering to the demands of enterprises and service providers.

Key features of the Filogic 860 platform encompass:

  • Additional receive antenna support for zero-wait DFS
  • Filogic Xtra range support for enhanced reception distance via an extra antenna

Conversely, the Filogic 360 serves as a standalone, single-chip solution for Wi-Fi 7 2×2 and dual Bluetooth 5.4, targeting high-performance clients like smartphones, PCs, laptops, set-top boxes, OTT streaming devices, and more.

Both the MediaTek Filogic 860 and Filogic 360 solutions are in the sampling phase for customers, with mass production anticipated by mid-2024.
