Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme and Dell Pro Rugged 14 combine rugged protection, AI-ready processors, advanced connectivity and enterprise security for demanding field operations.
Dell Technologies is expanding its rugged PC lineup with two new laptops for workers operating far beyond the traditional office environment.
The Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme and Dell Pro Rugged 14 (the laptops will be available later this month) are designed for industries including public safety, government, utilities, manufacturing, oil and gas, and transportation, where laptops may need to withstand extreme temperatures, drops, dust, water and long working shifts.
The new systems pair ruggedised hardware with modern computing features such as Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, optional private 5G, Wi-Fi 7, GPS and hot-swappable batteries.
Built to withstand extreme conditions
Both laptops are MIL-STD-810H certified and designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -20°F to 145°F. Their touchscreens support interaction while wearing gloves and in wet conditions, making them suitable for workers using protective equipment or operating outdoors.
Dell has also equipped both models with its Rugged Control Centre, which gives users quick access to hardware controls and configuration options. Workers can configure GPS settings, assign hardware shortcuts and customise the devices around their specific roles.
For IT departments, the systems provide a standardised platform that can be deployed and managed across large field operations.
Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme targets maximum durability

The Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme is the smaller of the two machines and is designed for environments where durability and portability are critical.
Dell describes it as its most powerful and smallest 13-inch fully rugged AI PC. It carries an IP66 rating for protection against dust and water ingress and has been tested against drops of up to six feet.
The laptop can be configured with up to 64GB of LPDDR5X memory and Intel Arc integrated graphics, supporting demanding multitasking and graphics-heavy workflows. Removable SSD and self-encrypting drive options are also available for organisations with strict security and compliance requirements.
Its 13.3-inch FHD display reaches up to 1,400 nits, helping users maintain visibility when working under direct sunlight.
Dell Pro Rugged 14 adds workstation-class graphics

For users who need more computing and graphics performance, the Dell Pro Rugged 14 offers a larger display and discrete GPU options while maintaining a field-ready design.
Weighing approximately 4.7 pounds, the 14-inch system is designed as a semi-rugged machine with three-foot drop protection and an IP53 rating for resistance to dust, dirt and water exposure.
The laptop can be equipped with an NVIDIA RTX PRO 500 Blackwell Generation Laptop GPU, enabling more demanding visualisation, data analysis and AI workloads in the field.
Up to 64GB of LPCAMM2 memory is supported, giving IT teams additional flexibility when upgrading or replacing system memory.
The 14-inch 16:10 FHD display delivers up to 1,100 nits of brightness and provides additional vertical screen space for documents, dashboards and field applications.
Designed for workers on the move
Dell has also redesigned the Pro Rugged 14’s vehicle docking system with quad passthrough connectivity. The company says the updated design improves compatibility with third-party docking solutions while making it easier to connect and disconnect the laptop from a vehicle.
That’s particularly relevant for workers who spend much of their day moving between locations rather than working from a fixed office.
Both laptops support optional private 5G, Wi-Fi 7 and GPS, while hot-swappable batteries are designed to keep workers operating without lengthy interruptions for charging.
An optional 5MP RGB+IR camera is also available on both systems for capturing images and video in challenging environments.
Security gets a rugged upgrade
Security features include TPM 2.0, contact and contactless smart card readers, fingerprint readers and IR cameras for Windows Hello facial recognition.
Dell’s SafeID technology with ControlVault and BIOS-level security protections provide additional safeguards for enterprise deployments. The company also says the new systems include quantum-resistant protections as organizations prepare for emerging cybersecurity threats.
For IT teams, cloud-based deployment and management tools are supported alongside Dell ProSupport and predictive maintenance capabilities intended to reduce downtime across large device fleets.
Built for the field, not the office
“Field workers keep critical operations running no matter the conditions, and their technology needs to do the same,” said Charlie Walker, head of product, Dell Pro Precision and Dell Pro Rugged at Dell Technologies.
According to Dell, the new Pro Rugged laptops are designed to combine the durability and connectivity required by field workers with the performance, security and manageability expected by enterprise IT teams.
The result is a pair of laptops aimed at a growing class of workers who need modern computing capabilities in environments where conventional business laptops may not be enough.
