MediaTek has officially unveiled its latest Dimensity 6000 series, along with a powerful chipset aimed at elevating the next generation of mainstream 5G devices. With the Dimensity 6100+ SoC, MediaTek brings forth a range of premium features, including exceptional power efficiency, vibrant displays, high frame rates, AI-powered camera technologies, leading low power consumption, and reliable Sub-6 5G connectivity. The best part is that all these features are offered at an affordable price point, making them accessible to a wider consumer base.
As the demand for 5G networks continues to surge in developing markets and operators in developed markets focus on transitioning consumers from 4G LTE to 5G, there is an urgent need for chipsets that cater to the growing number of mainstream mobile devices with next-generation connectivity. CH Chen, the Deputy General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit, emphasized the significance of the MediaTek Dimensity 6000 series, enabling device manufacturers to stay ahead of the curve by delivering impressive upgrades that enhance performance, increase power efficiency, and reduce material costs.
The Dimensity 6100+ integrates an enhanced 5G modem that supports the 3GPP Release 16 standard, boasting up to 140MHz 2CC 5G Carrier Aggregation. This integration significantly reduces power consumption, thanks to MediaTek UltraSave 3.0+ technology. The chipset is powered by two Arm Cortex-A76 big cores and six Arm Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, offering remarkable enhancements in various areas, such as support for AI-powered cameras, 10-bit displays, outstanding user experience, GPU performance, and rich peripheral features.
The Dimensity 6100+ chipset also boasts several key features, including support for up to 108MP Non-ZSL cameras and up to 2K 30fps video capture. Additionally, MediaTek’s UltraSave 3.0+ technology ensures a 20% reduction in 5G power consumption compared to competing solutions. The chipset’s camera features are impressive, encompassing AI-bokeh for stunning portraits and selfies. MediaTek has collaborated with Arcsoft to introduce AI-color technology to mainstream devices, enabling users to unleash their creativity. The chipset also offers support for premium 10-bit displays, reproducing over one billion colours for vibrant images and videos, while delivering a smooth user experience with frame rates ranging from 90Hz to 120Hz.
MediaTek’s 5G portfolio covers various price tiers, making exceptional mobile experiences more accessible. The Dimensity 9000 series caters to flagship smartphones and tablets, the Dimensity 8000 family targets premium mobile devices, and the Dimensity 7000 lineup expands MediaTek’s range of high-tech devices. The newly introduced Dimensity 6000 series aims to democratize higher-end features, bringing them to mainstream 5G devices.
Consumers can expect the first smartphones featuring the Dimensity 6100+ chipset to hit the market in the third quarter of 2023.
