OnePlus has masterfully combined extraordinary portability with incredible durability in the OnePlus Open. OnePlus has introduced its iconic alert slider to phablet foldables for the first time. This slider has been re-engineered to fit the phone’s compact 5.8mm folding body. It offers convenient one-handed operation, and its interior module has been made more compact, saving significant space compared to previous models.

Despite its slim profile, the OnePlus Open remains robust and durable. Its innovative material choices and mechanical design, with just 69 parts compared to the industry average of over a hundred, make it highly efficient. The patented Flexion Hinge ensures space for high-performance hardware inside.

The phone has undergone rigorous testing and is certified for reliable folding by the international certification institute TÜV Rheinland. It endured extreme environmental tests and a whopping 1,000,000 test-folds, equivalent to over 100 folds per day, demonstrating its durability over a decade.

One of the key challenges with foldable phones is creasing on the display. The OnePlus Open tackles this issue with micro-openings of 0.15mm integrated into the carbon fibre display support structure. These, along with the 8-axis turn mechanism and the Flexion hinge, minimize creasing even after extensive use.

The OnePlus Open also boasts a powerful camera system. It features a triple main camera setup, with a 48MP primary camera, a 64MP periscope telephoto with 6x in-sensor lossless zoom, and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The OnePlus Open employs Ceramic Guard, an exclusive ion-exchange-treated glass-ceramic, for added toughness on the cover screen. This material is 20% more resilient than Corning Gorilla Glass Victus of the same size and thickness. The primary display benefits from three layers of protection, including Ultra-Thin Glass, TPU for impact resistance, and an anti-reflection screen protector, ensuring robust defence against daily wear and tear. The OnePlus Open introduces Sony’s innovative LYTIA “Pixel Stacked” image sensor, a first in foldable smartphones. Despite its compact size, the 1/1.43-inch “Pixel Stacked” CMOS sensor delivers image quality on par with the 1-inch Sony IMX989 or the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
