Ascentiz is heading to IFA 2026 with a fundamentally different answer to the wearable robotics problem: ditch the rigid, full-leg suits and treat the body like an upgradeable hardware platform.

Rather than locking users into a single, monolithic frame, the company’s modular architecture splits the system into a central hub, swappable joint modules, and an open software stack designed to expand over time.

The Hardware: Exo-Belt and Swappable Joints

At the core sits the Exo-Belt, a shared base unit housing the central battery, controller, and motion algorithms. Using a quick-release MOLLE-style attachment system, users can snap joint units on or off by hand in seconds.

  • Ascentiz-H (Shipping now): Focuses strictly on hip propulsion. It targets walking, climbing, sprinting, and fast-paced forward momentum.

  • Ascentiz-K (Coming soon): Focuses on adaptive knee augmentation. It manages dynamic joint assistance, sustained load support, and controlled braking during descents and stair navigation.

  • Dual Operation: The Exo-Belt can drive either module individually or run both simultaneously for complete lower-body assistance.

Both modules leverage Adaptive Motion Intelligence, an algorithmic layer that reads stride dynamics and terrain changes in real time, automatically dialling torque and assistance up or down within the active mode.

Why Modularity Wins

Full-leg exoskeletons are notoriously heavy, inflexible, and expensive to replace when hardware advances. Ascentiz is betting that movement needs are too varied for fixed designs.

“Different activities place different demands on the hips and knees,” notes Cody Kou, VP of Ascentiz. “We believe wearable robotics should evolve with those needs, rather than lock every capability into one fixed device. Our goal is to build a platform that can keep gaining new capabilities over time, rather than asking users to start over with each new generation.”

BodyOS: The Open Software Layer

Powering the ecosystem is BodyOS, the software and control backbone linking the mechanical AZ-Lock mounts and high-speed CAN-FD communication bus. By open-sourcing BodyOS, Ascentiz is opening the door for third-party developers, researchers, and hardware builders to create custom modules that plug directly into the Exo-Belt platform.
