Automated lawn mowers are no longer a novelty, but anyone who has managed a complex yard knows the pain points: blind spots, chewed-up turf on steep slopes, signal dropouts under trees, and ragged, uncut edges. At IFA 2026, outdoor robotics pioneer MAMMOTION introduced its new flagship LUBA 4 AWD Series, aiming directly at these stubborn corner cases.
Celebrating a decade in outdoor robotics, MAMMOTION’s latest machine shifts the focus from simple schedule-based cutting to intelligent lawn management. Equipped with an all-around multi-sensor array, active AWD steering, and hardware built for rough terrain, the LUBA 4 AWD is designed to leave zero manual touch-ups behind.
360° Awareness: Quad-Vision Meets Tri-Fusion Navigation
Most autonomous mowers rely primarily on forward-facing sensors and traditional RTK signals, making them prone to drifting near walls or stalling beneath dense tree canopies. The LUBA 4 AWD introduces a Surround Quad-Vision × Tri-Fusion system to solve this.
-
Triple-Layer Redundancy: Navigation blends four wide-angle cameras (front, sides, and rear), 360° LiDAR, and NetRTK. If one system experiences signal occlusion or low light, the other two pick up the slack in real time.
-
Full Surround Sensing: Obstacle detection extends beyond the forward field of view, preventing side and rear collisions in cluttered yards.
-
No Base Stations, No Boundary Wires: The setup is completely wire-free, eliminating the need to plant a dedicated RTK antenna. Lifetime access to MAMMOTION iNavi Service data is included out of the box.
Agility on Any Incline: Active Steering & Bidirectional AWD
Steep, uneven terrain is where traditional autonomous mowers tear up turf. MAMMOTION addresses this with an overhauled drive system:
-
80% (38.6°) Slope Rating: Independent four-wheel torque vectoring channels power directly to the wheels with maximum traction.
-
Turf-Friendly Turning: Active front-wheel independent steering combined with bidirectional driving eliminates aggressive in-place pivot turns, preserving healthy grass while maintaining straight mowing lines.
Scaled Cutting Decks and Clean Edge Finishing
The LUBA 4 AWD series is built to handle expansive, rugged properties without bogging down:

-
Wider Passes: The 3000F and 6000F feature dual cutting discs (440 mm cutting width), while the heavy-duty 12000F packs a triple-disc configuration spanning 530 mm.
-
Terrain-Following Decks: Floating decks house six pivoting, impact-absorbing flail blades per disc, dynamically adjusting to dips and bumps. Cutting heights range from 25–100 mm (25–85 mm on the 12000F).
-
Dedicated Edge-Trimming Accessory: An optional edge attachment tackles borders along fences, garden beds, and hardscapes, effectively eliminating the need for a manual string trimmer.
-
Fast Battery Swaps: A high-capacity, detachable battery pack pairs with up to 360W fast charging to minimise downtime.
-
Smarter Controls: The companion app adds offline voice control, live remote video streaming, and scheduled OTA updates for future AI features.
