Humax EV Charging has teamed up with digital bank Zopa to make home EV charging more affordable, letting buyers of new and used electric vehicles (EVs) spread the cost of a Humax MX7 home charger and installation over 12 months interest-free.

Available through the Humax Direct website, the new financing option allows customers to select Zopa Bank at checkout, alongside other payment options such as Klarna. The scheme aims to make installing a home charger more accessible by removing the need to pay the full cost upfront.

Making Home Charging More Affordable

As more UK drivers switch from petrol and diesel cars to electric vehicles, the cost of installing a home charger remains an important consideration. This can be particularly challenging for second-hand EV buyers, for whom the combined cost of a charger and professional installation can add significantly to the initial expense of purchasing an electric car.

By offering 12-month finance at 0% interest, Humax and Zopa aim to reduce this financial barrier. Customers can spread the cost of their home charging setup over a year without paying interest, helping them manage their budgets while enjoying the convenience of charging at home.

Matthew McMullan, director of automotive and energy at Humax EV Charging, said the partnership was designed to help more drivers make the transition to electric motoring.

“The EV market is continuing to develop, and we are seeing more people make the move from petrol and diesel vehicles to EVs, including buyers choosing the growing second-hand EV market. For someone purchasing a used electric car, the cost of a home charger and installation can still represent a barrier to EV adoption.

“We wanted to make it easier for more drivers to access the benefits of home charging without having to find the full cost at the start. By offering Zopa Bank’s fully regulated interest-free financing through Humax Direct, customers can spread that expense over a longer period without the worry of interest accumulating or a significant payment at the start.”

A Connected Charging Solution for EV Owners

The Humax MX7 is a future-ready home charging solution for private EV owners and fleet drivers. It provides convenient home charging alongside the connected features expected from a modern EV charger.

The addition of flexible finance gives customers another way to manage the cost of setting up home charging, particularly when buying an electric vehicle for the first time or switching to a used model.

The agreement with Zopa is part of Humax EV Charging’s wider strategy to help drivers and fleet operators manage the costs associated with running electric vehicles. The company also works with partners including PAUA and Rightcharge, which offer solutions to help manage EV charging expenses.

With home charging infrastructure playing an increasingly important role in the transition to electric motoring, Humax’s latest partnership aims to make the initial investment more manageable for a wider range of drivers.
