Last year, when MediaTek introduced the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 and 8300 SoCs, the emphasis was on empowering developers and OEMs with the necessary technology to deliver essential Generative AI capabilities directly to users on their devices. MediaTek underscored the pivotal role played by flagship and premium chipsets in enabling this advancement, leveraging enhanced APUs and MediaTek’s NeuroPilot AI platform.
In MediaTek continuous commitment to fostering ecosystems vital for AI’s future, MediaTek collaborated with Google to seamlessly integrate and optimize Gemini Nano, Google’s Large Language Model (LLM) tailored for on-device Generative AI, ensuring efficient operation on the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 and 8300 chipsets. This collaboration involved leveraging MediaTek’s NeuroPilot toolkit and adapting Gemini Nano for MediaTek APU to enhance performance.
The adoption of on-device Generative AI offers numerous advantages over cloud computing, including enhanced performance, heightened privacy, superior security and reliability, reduced latency, operability in low-connectivity environments, and decreased operational expenses.
In a collaborative effort, MediaTek and Google are set to unveil an APK designed to run on Dimensity 9300 and 8300, aiding developers and OEMs in deploying Gemini Nano applications effectively.
